Hello! Today I have my weekly Leadership Class, and I wanted to share what we were doing. Last week we went over some assessment tools to help better understand ourselves. For homework we took the Meyer's Brigg test amongst other assessments. This was also a requirement for my career exploration class, PD 191, last semester, offered through the Career Center. The Career Center offers many assessments, some of which you can actually find online. The Meyer's Brigg tests measures personality. Although I prefer and recommend taking the test at the career center so you can have a career counselor help explain the results, you can also find it online.
I scored between an ENFP and ENFJ, which if you take the test will make sense to you, but basically it means I am extroverted, intuitive, feeling-based and between being perceptive and judgemental. This makes me great at communication. "ENFPs are introspective, values-oriented, inspiring, social and extremely expressive. They actively send their thoughts and ideas out into the world as a way to bring attention to what they feel to be important, which often has to do with ethics and current events." ( I found that here).
I think taking self-assessments like these are really valuable because they help me understand myself better. For Professor Kistler's Leadership Class, they make it possible for us to analyze our vision by understanding ourselves. They are a powerful tool for goal setting, and for understanding which career path can make you happiest.
