Right now, my brain is very very busy. I have so much on my mind! This weekend I went to a networking event which my professor, Barbara Balderman in the graphic design department informed me about. The event was for the AIGA, "the professional association for design", which was a chance to get my portfolio reviewed. If any of you are going into the arts or anything which requires a portfolio, I cannot emphasize enough how helpful this portfolio was for me, and could be for you. I have never been to an event with so many interesting people, and role models within the arts and marketing. I'm still shocked about how much I got out of it. Since then I have been wracking my brain to try to focus on how I want my career path to turn out.
Then, today, I met with Professor Julie Brown who is the Chair of Finance, International Business and Marketing here at SBCC. She was... amazing. I felt very in sync with her, especially in discussing the transformation that is going in marketing with social media right now. And... she briefly went over the Marketing Certificate, which is comprised of 24 units (that would be about two semesters of full time, 12 units)... and well, I think I want to do it. She said she is going to look at my transcript and see what courses I have already taken which can satisfy some of the required coursework, so she said I am probably just a few classes away.
So.... ya. I'm kind of on cloud 9 right now. And, in addition, the campus is going crazy with an amazing amount of events, like the Career Technical Fair, International Week, the International Fashion Show, and literally as I was writing this, I just saw the intern who is curating the annual Student Show walk by (I will be marketing for this very soon). So... ya. I'm pretty excited. In fact, I am stoked.
