On Campus Events

I've been trying to go to more on campus events lately. Last week I attended "How I Made It: Information Technology". I attended the event at the Career Center and learned that all three people who came to talk with us actually graduated with a major other than Computer Science. All of them developed their career and reworked into the IT field. One of the speakers began his own IT business and talked about creating a niche (computer tech support for small business in Santa Barbara) and taking risks (rapping at a networking event). I found the event informative about the IT industry, about how people can pick one major and develop into a different field, and about beginning a business.

Today our school is hosting a very cool event which unfortunately does not fit into my schedule, otherwise I would be there in a heart beat. The event is the Molecular Motion Mania Annual Faculty Lecture by Dr. Mike Young. Check out one of his videos here!
