Tartuffe

Last night I had the pleasure of watching Tartuffe at SBCC's theatre. Tartuffe was very well performed, and I felt all of the actors contributed to its success. I especially liked all of the motioning between a character in a conversation and someone else in the background either spying or making fun of someone etc. Many times in the play people are hiding behind a bush or something to spy on people talking, and it's really great visual comedy. It added an element of humor that I wasn't expecting. I also loved the Southern accents, especially from Tartuffe's character who managed to sound a bit like a southern preacher. It was a really fun experience.

My boyfriend Kyle is taking beginning acting and needed to watch it for his class, so he bought me a ticket and we headed to theatre. I was not expecting to see people I knew there, but I was pleasantly surprised to see people I knew in the audience, production, and volunteering. It was a really fun experience, and the play was awesome. I am really impressed by how much the acting students at our school challenge themselves in the productions. It's a really tight knit community, and I definitely want to hang out more with people from the acting department.

You can read the official description of the play here.
You can read about the director here- I was amazed he was one of 210  potential directors interviewed!
